WA O’pen Skiff Sailing
Welcome to O’pen Skiff Western Australia.
We aim to support junior sailors and their families in WA as they develop their sailing skills, participate in regattas, and most importantly have fun.
For up-to-date information on state, national and international regattas and events, please follow WA Open Skiff Sailing on Facebook, and Openskiff_aus_WA on Instagram.
After completing Australian Sailing’s Tackers program, sailors may choose to join an O’pen Skiff fleet at a yacht/sailing club. They progress through Green Fleet, Silver Fleet and Gold Fleet. This is a great pathway boat in which kids can progress their skills. Some clubs keep a small fleet of club-owned boats that members can borrow to get started, but after a period you are encouraged to acquire your own O’pen Skiff. Boats can be purchased new from Skiff Gear Online, or second-hand from this Facebook group, and advertised on club notice boards.

Volunteering
Sailing is a great sport where families can be involved. From simply helping kids launch boats and stacking trollies on shore (Beach Marshall), to helping on a support boat. No prior experience is needed to start out, but if you are interested to do more, there are opportunities to get your skippers ticket to drive a support boat, or help on race days with time keeping, raising flags, and more. Ask your club!
